TAKE YOUR POWER BACK

Have you ever found yourself scrolling through social media pages of other people and feeling a slow drain of your own confidence? I know the feeling. So many times I scrolled through LinkedIn and felt weeh! what am I really doing with my life? For so long I asked myself, 'how did they make it this far?

You get into social media and boom! one of your classmates just got a PhD, one just climbed up the career ladder, one just got a kid, one just got married and the list goes on until it gets into your nerves, it gets into your mind and it poisons your soul because you wonder how all these happened while you are still navigating the first step of your life.

While your email is flooding with 'we regret to inform you', someone is attending that UN conference in Geneva, you started a business two years ago that has failed to pick up and you are wondering how one of your classmates just opened a new business branch in a major town, you've received a hundredths scholarship rejection over the last 5 years and your classmate is posting five PhD scholarship offers. You even start to recall how you used to do their assignments  and 'hotspot' them during exams, now this is what we call 'Life no balance'.

Every minute spent measuring your unpolished reality against someone else's highlighted post is an active surrender of your creative energy. You are handing over the power you need to build a life you're proud of. Maybe you are afraid of trying again because of your past experiences or you are still grieving over a loss, despite what it is, it's time to reclaim the power.

'You have more power than you think. Each of us has a choice, even when it doesn't feel that way. You have the power to take control of your life, even just starting a little at a time. One decision. One thought', She the Warrior.

I also discovered this when I realized that everyone on LinkedIn actually wear suits😅

I decided to take back my power, I haven't fully figured it out yet but everyday is a learning moment. I enrolled for career coaching, thanks to Career Bridge Limited, I was able to develop a clear career vision. This is a very crucial step in the self-development journey because it brings out all your strengths and weaknesses, points you on the right direction, highlights all the necessary steps you need to take to strengthen the weak points and how to leverage your strengths.

It's not easy to unlearn what you've learnt, it's not easy to erase all the social media posts from your mind, because every time you login, you have to see the posts but how do you let these posts not mess up with your head? People never show you their 'behind the scenes' they never tell you how lonely their paths have been because they never want you to see them cry, they never talk about the sleepless nights, the long essays they had to write and the back and forth emails, until you learn all these you will keep giving away your power.

The path of ambitions is lonely, you'll have to get that extra skill you need, you'll have to take up that scary role that you've always avoided, you will have to lose those friends you cherish so much and even some family members, but trust me the journey will be worth the effort, along the way you will meet a lot of like-minded people, with the same drive, who matches your energy. You will make new friends, many associates, it's not an easy ride. Trust me I have had it so rough and sometimes I pause and ask myself, 'is it really worth it?' Aaah well I'm here to find out and this is what makes me moving. You will never really know the destination until you end the journey, so I'm still manifesting.

Maybe you are also wondering how to do it, maybe you're just on the journey as I am, feeling confused and scared, feeling overwhelmed and ready to give up, it's okay, I get it and it's okay to feel all that but what I can tell you is that, when it's scary do it.

There could be some emotions holding you back, process them and if it's your friends holding you back lose them, you'll definitely meet better ones with aligned visions and values😊

Despite everything, one thing you have to do is keep moving, be confidence enough to face your fears, Cultivate creativity and flow, if you want to climb up the career ladder, you definitely have to build that skill, if you want to be a CEO you have to build that company, if you want to get that PhD you definitely have to write all those essays, if you want a home, you must build it, everything you want, you have to create. These are some of the things I have learnt in my journey and maybe they also apply to you, take back your power.

Rediscover yourself, if you feel your path isn't clear, redefine yourself, what do you really want, one of the most famous question people ask is 'where do you see yourself in the next five years?' This question has also fueled my desires as a person, because I picture myself in five years and do what's necessary to achieve what I want in the next five years, it's always good to set goals because it gives you a sense of direction. Once you have the goals, lead yourself and be intentional, trust the process and always have the end goal in mind, review your goals and evaluate the journey along the process.

In this journey, self-confidence is very important, I believe in myself to get what I want and it doesn't matter whether I wear a suit, one thing I have learnt during my public speaking moments is that trust in your content and yourself to deliver it, and the same way you have to trust the power within you to reclaim your power. We all got this, let's take our power back.

  1. Very true... At times we feel so much left behind in life, but take a look. God has crafted every step of our lives, and in a matter of time, the successes and lost glories will be restored. We live to take a day at a time, with nothing but lots of fucus, since better days are coming and will work altogether for our good ❤️❤️

  8. So inspiring..I always believe that, life wont always match your expectations ,sometimes you'll put in the efforts, the heart, the prayers and still feel like nothing is shifting.meanwhile on the other end others seems to move on effortlessly. But remember this:Your delay is not your denial .some journeys takes longer because they are building someone stronger..you are not behind but you are becoming..you just need to take one step at a time.
